Does the sensor degrade over time making it less reliable?
Answer:
As with most combustible gas detectors, there is gradual degradation over time as the sensor for these detectors uses something similar to a heating element. It would be important to test the item intermittently, at least once per month, more if you wish to increase reliability
Would like to know where the unit should be installed, I have cabinets above the stove, directions say 30 cm from the ceiling. Answer: Generally speaking regarding natural gas, the concentration is greatest at the source of the leak and near the ceiling where it accumulates as natural gas is lighter than air. It is preferable to put the product near the ceiling although you could possibly put it underneath a cabinet directly over the stove if gas would accumulate there. Just avoid excessive steam near the detector. I like to put mine above the stove behind the microwave.
